How the 5-Letter Word Helper works
Daily word puzzles give three kinds of feedback after each guess. Enter them here exactly as the puzzle shows them:
- Green letters are correct and in the right position. Type each one in its matching box.
- Yellow letters are in the word but not in that position. Type the letter under the position where you guessed it.
- Gray letters are not in the word at all. Type them all into one box.
The answers are ranked so that words made of the most common remaining letters come first. Those words test the most likely letters, which usually makes them the strongest next guess.
Strategy tips
- Start with common letters. Opening words that use E, A, R, O, T, L, I and S reveal the most in one guess.
- Avoid repeats early. A guess with five different letters tests five letters instead of four.
- Remember double letters. If you're stuck, the answer may repeat a letter, as in sweet or llama.
- Use a scouting guess. When many answers differ by one letter, a guess that tests several of those letters at once can save turns, even if it can't be the answer.
